The Society for the Advancement of Women in STEM (AWSTEM) is a student club established for the purpose of promoting diversity in all fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The club mission is to spread awareness on issues that are common for women in STEM such as imposter syndrome, gender bias, and sexual harassment. The goals include providing a community in which women all in all STEM fields can gather can communicate their experiences. Membership is open to all Florida International University students, faculty, and alumni who share the common interest of promoting women in STEM.

The club is registered with and funded by FIU's Council of Student Organizations (CSO).
